So Christmas is coming, and you have absolutely no choice in decorating your home.Whether you're a Christmas fanatic or a complete Scrooge, your house will stick out like a sore thumb on your street if you are the only one not partaking in the yearly festivities. In this article I will attempt to outline various cost-effective ways to decorate your home for Christmas. One of the most prominent features of the standard Christmas decoration set is blinking lights and shiny decorations. This proves to be incredibly expensive for a first time buyer of a set of Christmas decorations, without the advantage of owning a set from the year before.Regardless of the underlying theological underpinnings, Christmas is something that people of any faith or creed can get involved in, and any excuse to be merry and charitable can't be a bad thing. For the exterior of your house, LED light sets can prove to be incredibly inexpensive and much less dangerous in comparison to the old style of Christmas lights.LED lights also have an advantage of longevity, and a single LED bulb for last for several years of Christmas celebrations.A Christmas tree is of course an essential addition to your home decorations; the main option is usually between a natural tree and a synthetic tree.Natural trees have many disadvantages, Christmas trees in nature are evergreen, which means that their leaves and needles are burn easily, and at an incredibly high temperature. In concerns to your own home safety, a natural tree can be a beautiful addition to your display, if handled in a responsible manner. The trees by nature are incredibly susceptible to fire and should be kept well away from any heat generating power source or traditional old Christmas lights; it's far more preferable to decorate with tinsel, baubles and non-electronic additions for a more natural look. There are also places who will take your natural Christmas trees and recycle them by making chipping out of them or some people plant them and keep them as a garden feature.A synthetic tree is far more preferable if you're looking for a low maintenance tree. Most modern synthetic trees are highly resistant to heat and fire, and in this respect make them the far safer option, and can be incredibly flexible in terms of decoration and storage, natural trees decay after each year's festivities so it is far preferable to invest in a synthetic tree which you can use year after year.Good luck! I hope these tips have helped you in regards to choices of decorations this Christmas!

Christmas became popular in America in the early 19th century.Today Christmas is a time for family and friends and gaiety. The central part of Christmas is the Christmas tree, whether artificial or real, it is there in every household. If you are lucky, you may have the real one.If not, you get all varieties and shapes in the market.Alternatively, you can make one on your own.You need some Styrofoam, pinecones, berries, other decorative items and glue.Take a big or small piece of Styrofoam and cut into the shape of a Christmas tree.Glue on the pinecones from down up with the bigger cones at the bottom layers and getting smaller as you go up.Now add some tinsel papers, colored, glistening papers and the red berries.Cover the bare spaces with green paper rather than painting them, as the Styrofoam usually absorbs paints.Soon you have a perfect Christmas tree ready to have the tinsel balls and stocking s to hang up.The pine has a story of its own. When Herod's soldiers were pursuing the Holy family, an old pine tree sheltered and protected the family.Baby Jesus blessed the tree when leaving and the imprint of his little hand is there to see when a pinecone is slit lengthwise!Instead of throwing away old Christmas cards, you can make ornaments, baskets, angels and even placemats from them. The old cards can turn into new ones with a little ingenuity. To make some new cards, collect the old ones and segregate them according to their themes, e.G.Cards with snow on one side, Santa cards on one side, and traditional ones on one side and so on.Cut out the images from the old cards, collage, and make your own theme for every new card.Make your base cards from white or colored card paper, by cutting them in card size. Now paste the images as per your design and make new ones, with your own handwritten messages! Similarly, by cutting, pasting and attaching, you can come up with lovely items of decorations for the whole house if you have ample old cards.Hang a homemade wreath on the front door to make it special and unique.A pinecone wreath with berries is easy and takes little time to assemble. For this, you need a wreath bought from the market to which you wire the cones and then wire groups of clustered berries in-between.Now wire a colored ribbon in the centre bottom of the wreath. This way you can make as many wreaths as you desire and hang in all the doors. You can make holiday glitter wall hangings from fabric cut panel, cardboard cut to shape and tulip glitter gold.Put the panel on the cardboard, outline with glitter glue.Hang it up when the glitter dries.Ginger bread man comes to shape from sand paper - cut out two shapes of ginger man from the sandpaper and then glue them together with rough sides out.Rub some cinnamon stick on the rough sides for the sweet smell.Draw the face and other features and sprinkle some small candies or scrap paper to give a "frosty" look.Hang a wreath on all doors, inside and out, all windows, over the mantle, giving the whole house a grand holiday look.Personalize each stocking by writing each one's name with a silver or gold glitter pen.Decorate your home with poinsettias, Christmas rose and mistletoe, which are all traditional flowers. These bring in the purity and spirit of Christmas, thus enhancing the whole atmosphere. To add to the mood of Christmas, you could choose a corner of the house to make a mini "nativity scene".That would be unique!

This review is from: Thomas Kinkade Crystal Snowman Figurine Featuring Light-Up Village And Animated Train by The Bradford Editions
Ok so last year I bought the Kinkade Crystal Tabletop Christmas Tree and ended up returning it for poor quality. This year I thought that the reviews for this snowman sound promising and bought it, but it doesn't come even close in quality to what's pictured here, so I feel like this review is necessary.
First of all the glass is really thick, even though in the picture it looks very fine and elegant. No. It's thick. If you zoom in on the picture you can kind of see like a blurry edge on the inside of the glass (about a quarter of an inch thick) - yeah that's where the actual glass ends. It's not the nice thin edge that's clearly seen in the picture..it's the one that they tried to blur so you can't see how thick the glass is. This bothers me because it makes the figurine look cheap and hefty, not fine and expensive.
Next, the nice shiny gloves and scarf are nothing but dark plastic silver paint. Definitely not as shiny. I'm not sure what kind of material I was... Read more

I guess I had much higher expectations spending the amount that I did. The details are not as great as they look in the picture. The lights are really dim and the head of the snowman appears to be made of a shiny flimsy material. The plus point however for me and my husband is that the train does move smoothly.. i really like that and that's probably the only reason why we kept it. Would I have bought it if I had seen it in a store? - No. Hallmark ornaments and decorations are way better and next time I'll know where to spend my money.
